Abstract: Compensation has gained momentous attention for its impact on employee performance. It covers economic rewards in the form of wages and salaries as well as in various forms of non-wage economic payment such as fringe benefits, indirect compensation or supplementary pay. Compensation is identified to be driving performance among many employees in Ghana. This paper reports on the relationship between compensation and employee's performance in the banking sector. The study espoused a descripto-exploratory research design and stratified sampling technique. One hundred (100) respondents were used for the study. Among other things, the study result revealed that the compensation package available for employees include incentives, commissions, bonuses and recognition for work done; there was very minimum or no employee involvement in the implementation of compensation packages. Management of the bank should put in place effective means of communicating at all levels of the organisation to employees concerning compensation packages. |
